External Connector:

Either individual CALs or External Connector licenses can be purchased for external users to access the server software.

Either individual CALs or External Connector licenses may be purchased for External Users to access the Server Software. "External Users" means users who are neither employees of You or Your Affiliates nor contractors or agents on-site of You or Your Affiliates. External Users include, for example, business partners and customers. Access by non-external users (e.g. employees) can only be licensed via CALs.

You are required to assign each External Connector license you purchase to a server licensed to run one or more instances of the server software. A hardware partition or blade is considered a separate server.

Each External Connector assigned to a server allows any number of external users to access instances of the server software on that server. You do not need a CAL for these users.

Windows User CAL / SPS User CAL

1 CAL per user / device

in case of access by a small number of business partners and/or customers, or
in case of access by business partners and/or customers to multiple copies of the server software

Windows EC / SS EC

1 External Connector per server licensed for the server software (A hardware partition or blade is considered a separate server).

with access of business partners and/or customers in frequently changing identity or number
